Foreign Media Accreditation Guidelines for the Coronation of King Rama X

On the Auspicious Occasion of the Coronation of King Rama X, B.E. 2562 (2019), the Government Public Relations Department (PRD) of the Royal Thai Government issued media accreditation guidelines for members of the media who wish to cover the Coronation of King Rama X. The media are required to register for both a "PRD Press Card" and a "Special Press Card" that will be issued by the PRD. The PRD Press Card and the Special Press Card grant access to only the Media Centre for the Coronation of King Rama X, which will be located at the Main Auditorium of Thammasat University, Tha Prachan Campus, Bangkok, and open during 27 April - 6 May 2019.

To acquire the PRD Press Card and the Special Press Card, the media are advised to follow the guidelines provided on the PRD's website (https://thailand.prd.go.th/ewt_news.php?nid=7700). The registration for media accreditation, for both Thai and foreign media, is open until Friday, 29 March 2019

       (To apply for a PRD Press Card and Special Press Card, foreign press (correspondents and photographers) are advised to follow the Process below:

        1. Register for PRD press card (https://presscard.prd.go.th/) and attach required documents in the system including a photocopy of passport and a designation letter from correspondent's agency.

             Please select "The Royal Coronation of King Rama X" in the Press Group section.

             Once completed, convert the PRD Press card application to a pdf file. (This may be done by selecting "print" the completed form and "save as" a pdf file).

        2. Download special press card application (https://thailand.prd.go.th/1700/ewt/thailand/download/application_kingrama10.pdf) and complete the form. Scan the completed form into a pdf file.

        3. Prepare the following documents in digital formats for submission through email:

                - A high-resolution (at least 100 x 100 pixels) portrait photo with polite attire and plain background. The photo should be taken within the last 6 months;

                - A photocopy of passport;

                - A Letter from correspondent's agency.

        4. To complete the registration process, please submit the aforementioned documents in 1 - 3 to the Department of Information, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Thailand, through email: 

             [email protected] by Friday, 29 March 2019.

        5. The PRD will process all applications and contact correspondents to pick up the special press card once it is done.)

In addition to the PRD Press Card and Special Press Card, members of the media who wish to take video footage or photos of the ceremonies on 5 and 6 May 2019 are further required to register for specific camera platforms located around the venue. The "Stand Selection" form and venue layouts are also available on the abovementioned PRD website. The request for specific camera platforms is required to be submitted to the PRD by Monday, 1 April 2019.
